किसी अप्लायंस का खराब हो चुका रिमोट देखेंगे तो बैटरी वाले एरिया में मेटल स्प्रिंग और प्लेट्स लगी हैं. इन मेटल प्लेट्स और स्प्रिंग में कई बार कार्बन जमा होता है या फिर इसमें रस्ट लगता है. ऐसे में किसी रेगमाल के टुकड़े से इसे साफ़ करता है जिससे रस्ट और कार्बन मेटल पार्ट्स से निकल जाए क्योंकि बैटरी की पावर रिमोट तक नहीं पहुंचती है. ऐसा के बाद रिमोट ठीक होगा.

 साफ-सफाई की कमी के चलते रिमोट कंट्रोल के आगे की तरफ लगे हुए आईआर ब्लास्टर पर डस्ट जमा होती है. इस डस्ट से रिमोट कंट्रोल का इस्तेमाल करते हैं तो सिग्नल आप अप्लायंस तक नहीं पहुंचता है. किसी साफ़ कपडे का इस्तेमाल कर आईआर ब्लास्टर पर जमा गंदगी को साफ़ करते रहना चाहिए. एक लाइट जैसा नजर है और हर रिमोट कंट्रोल के अगले हिस्से में लगता है.
