A blog site named WhatsApp BetaInfo has informed about the new changes in Meta-owned messaging apps. WhatsApp Beta, which is rolling out WhatsApp updates, has shared a screenshot of where to find the new username option and how it will work. The option to set a username is available in the profile section of the app. Alphabets, numbers and special characters are used in the username and each username will be different from the other.

Username will be required for chatting, mobile number will remain hidden. It will depend on you whether you want to share the phone number or not. Chat with username will remain end-to-end encrypted. This feature is rolled out for beta testing.
