Armenian Gampr is a large dog with thick bones, double coat, a muscular body, and good pulling ability. The muzzle is longer than the head. The body should be slightly longer than the shoulder height. Hair length and color can vary, but it is always longer on the shoulders and chest, as well as on the flank feathers. The Gampr is a landrace breed rather than a specific breed, so there is a range of types, forms, and personalities. Soon after birth, the ears are often cropped, and sometimes the tail is also cropped.
