Andalusian Hound is said to have descended from European hunting dogs and originated in the Andalusian region of southern Spain. Some speculated that it was one of the ancient breeds depicted in cave paintings in the Iberian Peninsula thousands of years ago, but DNA testing has since disproved this hypothesis.

पोडेंको अंडालूज़ के नाम से भी जानी वाली इस नस्ल को पहली बार स्पेन में 1990 में औपचारिक से मान्यता मिली थी, जब एक नस्ल संगठन का गठन किया था। अंडालूसी हाउंड विशिष्ट गुणों के अभाव और अन्य कुत्तों की नस्लों, विशेष रूप से पुर्तगाली पोडेंगो के साथ समानताओं के कारण देश के बाहर से मान्यता प्राप्त नहीं है। वर्षों से दृष्टि, श्रवण और गंध की इंद्रियाँ तीव्र से विकसित हैं और वे उस रेगिस्तानी क्षेत्र की गर्म और शुष्क परिस्थितियों का सामना की क्षमता रखते हैं। उन्हें सावधानीपूर्वक और सफल शिकारी में जाना जाता है। छोटे अंडालूसी हाउंड खरगोशों या खरहा का शिकार के लिए नियोजित हैं, जबकि बड़े हाउंड जंगली सूअर का शिकार कर सकते हैं। वे आमतौर पर समूहों में शिकार करते हैं।

Also known as the Podenco Andalusian, this breed first gained formal recognition in Spain in 1990 when a breed organization was formed. The Andalusian Hound is not recognized outside the country due to its lack of distinctive traits and similarities with other dog breeds, particularly the Portuguese Podengo. Their senses of sight, hearing, and smell have developed over the years, enabling them to withstand the hot and dry conditions of the desert region. They are known as meticulous and successful hunters. Smaller Andalusian Hounds are employed for hunting rabbits or hares, while larger hounds can hunt wild boar. They typically hunt in packs.
